Happy New Year

Travel Systems Associates appointed GSA for Trabacus Open Systems

Travel Systems Associates Ltd is delighted to announce that they hae been appointed General Sales Agents for the UK & Europe by Trabacus India Ltd. TSA will be responsible for the sales and marketing of the ‘Trabacus’ Open Source bookings system. Trabacus is built using OpenERP and offers both Tour Operators and Travel Agents real cost savings and added functionality compared to existing technology packages.

Richard Bristow, Managing Director of Travel Systems Associates says: ” We are thrilled to be able to offer ‘Trabacus’, a ground breaking Open Source reservations system to the European market. It offers the next generation in low cost high function booking software. It provides real business agility to a market that is restricted by high cost, low function applications at time when real power and flexibility are desperately needed.”

Trabacus is to be offered with two sales options. The first is for Small and Medium sized travel companies with no IT development resources. to whom it is offered on a Software as a Services (SaaS) basis. Customers pay a fixed fee per month per user. This requires no capital expenditure (CAPEX) to replace exisiting systems and is very tax efficient. Support and training is available for these customers. The second option is aimed at customers who do have software development staff, who wish to purchase a Web or Linux based application that they can tailor to meet their own business requirements and that can supported, in house. The latter is aimed at both direct customers and software application developers.

The Trabacus software not only saves users very considerable sums of money but also offers rounded functionality offered by few but the most expensive software solutions currently available. Features offered include; Full Accounting Ledgers (sales, purchase and nominal), Customer Relation Management and Human Resources functions – all as standard, The only extras to pay for is the customers choice of third party connectivity for GDS, accommodation, car rental and transfers etc.

We genuinely believe that ‘Trabacus’ offers a ‘step change’ in the way travel software is operated and paid for in Europe and are looking foward to a highly succesful partnership.

Cloud Computing: how does it effect the travel industry?

Cloud Computing and Software as a Service – SaaS – are the two buzz words of the moment. But do they have any implications for the travel industry?

In our opinion they do. For a number of years there have been a few software companies selling their software as Application Service Providers, which basically meams they rent users the software and host the application on Servers at a single central location. Great so far!

Cloud Computing and with it SaaS, offers the travel trade an opportunity to greatly reduce costs and improve services. The first round will give every kind of travel company the ability to introduce Cloud Computing which will introduce economies of scale and reduce I.T. staffing needs by a service where customers rent their I.T. desktop services, data is securely stored and distributed across the ‘Cloud’. The savings should be in the order of 50% of current costs. Phase two will hopefully see application suppliers for specific sectors such as travel agent and tour operator reservation systems also offer a Cloud rental model, which will also significantly reduce users costs significantly.

Using the Cloud and SaaS, also greatly reduces ongoing costs by keeping systems constantly updated and removes the need to consistantly upgrade expensive software licenses.

So, regardless of the niche you are in, from Hotels to Car Rental or from Hotels to Theme Parks; your company can lower costs and improve business efficiency – WIN 🙂
